[work] i have a good boss

we get overtime per shift, not per week (which is nice)

Robin and I get in usually 10-20min early, so if we don't take our breaks we're getting overtime pay, bc our shift is 7.5 hours with the break

I have done this like once since starting here and am never asked to

but I need to today!

he asked me if I was going on lunch and I told him probably not today, and his response was not "find a way to take your break, you have to" (we're in Texas, no mandatory breaks)

but "do you need me to go buy you food? D:"

awwww!

like buddy no I'm good, I have my lunch, I'm just sneaking the elements off it in one piece at a time between stacks of shirts, but like ????

not even a question of him having to pay me extra to do work, he just thanked me for taking the deadline seriously and offered to buy me food

when I have my id I HAVE to look for a job that isn't going to tear my body apart, and also we're not staying in Texas forever, but I don't wanna leave my team

this happened last year on Labor Day too, when we had one of the aphmau/catface orders and I volunteered to come in when we were closed for the holiday to make sure it got done on time

it's nice to finally work somewhere that appreciates that I give a shit about the work/team and rewards it instead of taking advantage of it

I do too, he's so sweet and understanding and accommodating never once bothered me about sitting down at work, encourages us to do what we need to. coworkers RSD hit really hard after a bad mistake with a customer and he gave them a mental health day with nothing but wishes to feel better

he's just a green flag of a human being

I mean he gave me the job with no ID in the first place and did everything he could to help me get it, too, and celebrated w me yesterday on getting my social security card ordered successfully

good team. good boss. trusts me and doesn't judge me and knows I know better about production than he does so he relies on my advice

the calendar says it's National Boss Appreciation Day on the 16th which is fucking stupid in 90% of cases but I'm gonna make him a gooey butter cake I think

there's really nothing like having a boss that will treat you well. it's one of the main reasons i have been rooted in my own job

it's a st louis recipe so I know what it's supposed to taste like and he is a Mexican immigrant who had never heard of it when I first brought him a piece

we doctored the easy recipe to make it as perfect as possible taste-wise and did it a second time and I was like "just so you know. it's infinitely better than it was last time."

"I don't understand how that's possible" he said, before taking a bite and buckling at the knees

oh what a good egg
