For the first time, I want to NOT recommend a restaurant. Cucina in Sofitel Nusa Dua deserved to be shutdown.

Last night, we went there for dinner. Straight from the beginning the front attendant said we have to wait for food for at least 40 minutes.

She offer us to sit outside since we didn’t reserved a table, although tables were many unreserved empty all the time when we were in the restaurant. We went there because it’s the only restaurant that have AC seating option in the resort.

We don’t mind to wait, since it’s not fast food. So we sat down and order a starter and 2 mains.

Mind you, this is an Italian restaurant where the resort said is they hired a chef from Italy to manage the kitchen.

We ordered a grilled octopus rip to that sentient animal and 2 pastas. Around 31 minutes later, the appetizer arrived. We knew what grilled octopus should taste like since we ate them in many Italian restaurants in Italy.

What came out is what I call a grilled octopus where the octopus have been left outside the fridge for hours, that the texture is too soft and not bouncy anymore.

We told that to the waiter that we’re not happy with the octopus and want to return it to the kitchen. The waiter apologized and offered a replacement after she consulted with her manager.

So we ordered a grilled stuffed zucchini as replacement. And surprisingly it arrived 7 minutes later. Quite fast. I was happy with that until I started to eat my first bite.

When a menu said grilled, you expected it to be hot. Nimrod already saw that the zucchini doesn’t have grilled marks. So when I bite it, he is right, that it’s completely cold.

The sauce supposed to be a cream with turmeric, but what I tasted is a melted margarine combine with other ingredients. The taste of the margarine lingered in my mouth long after.

But it’s not only that, the waiter decided that instead of 1 zucchini plate to replace 1 octopus plate, she brings 2 plates of zucchini.

We complaint about the extra plate. And she apologized for the miss communication.

But after few more bites, we decided we’re not going to continue with the main dishes. Well, if an appetizer cost more than 200k IDR you expect it to be immaculate, with little to no fault.

I asked the waiter why the grilled zucchini is cold. And her answer is kinda annoyed me, she said it supposed to be cold.

Nothing we can do about if the intention is cold grilled zucchini. But I know it’s not supposed to be cold, and the flavors are just like random ingredients put together and hope for the best.

The 2 bad foods, with strange flavors is a big turnoff for us. So we call the waiters again and asked her to cancel the mains. And we will pay the meals and drinks that we had.

The only good thing about this situation is that once the waiters comebacks, she told us that the manager decided not to charge us. That’s the least they can do for wasting our 1 hour and 48 minutes in the restaurant.

There was a couple across our table, and we meet them on the beach while we walked around the beach after our second dinner in other restaurants.

They said hi to us and asked about our dinner. We talked about our experience and that they agreed that the restaurant is not worth the hassle.

But. Quite surprising that the manager decided not to charge. Sangat jarang di indonesia sepertinya. Apa krn resto di hotel besar ya. Kalo di resto biasa kaga ada spt gini2, bahkan komplain makanan pun paling2 cuma diiyain aja, ga diganti.

Fenty : we were reading all the bad reviews, and most of them appeared recently. And I agree with them.

Fenty : At first, I assumed the chef went away also. But to my surprised, I saw her sitting next to her restaurant this noon.

But yes, I think you’re right that that there’s management changed. I mean for a 5 stars resort, we don’t get welcome drink is a questionable practice.
