[Doctor Who] I'm going to start watching "Underworld", though I will likely finish it tomorrow afternoon; I think I'll watch all of season 15 before finishing season 16.

I feel like this is the third time I've seen the Doctor reach the edge of the known universe. (here, during the 14th Doctor's run, and at least one other time in classic Who)

Planet of Evil was the episode I was thinking of. (unsurprisingly, the Doctor Who wiki has an article on times that the edge of the universe was referenced)

Surprised that the Time Lord policy of non-intervention has a similar origin as the Watcher's policy of non-intervention from Marvel (they encountered a society, gave them scientific advancements, and that society basically destroyed itself with atomic bombs). I thought the Time Lords had that policy because of a smug sense of superiority.

Louise Jameson does a great job at showing Leela's nervousness (trauma?) at having her mind messed with to pacify her.

The gene bank that the Minyans are searching for had a planet form around it, so it's time for a Journey to the Center of the Earth! (or rather, whatever the name of this new planet is)

The green screen effects are pretty rough, though I'm not sure if this is an early use of the technology for TV shows.

The Doctor commenting "what about a shield gun?" and Jackson immediately agreeing reminded me of an impression I got from a Big Finish story. It was a 7th Doctor called the Settling; there was a conversation that 7 had with a pregnant woman who admitted that she had no reason to be telling 7 her life story.

That, and a few other comments, gave me the impression that the Doctor sometimes uses low-level/subtle hypnotism to get people to trust him, or at least make them more likely to trust him.

I found it funny when the Minyans all say "the Quest is the Quest", and the Doctor does as well before looking around as if to say "great, now you've got me saying it."

Also, Leela's smile after her and the Doctor are told not to go, they wait until a few seconds after the Minyans leave, and then they go anyway.

Haha the rock that the Doctor and Leela are hiding behind seems more like a painted garbage bag. (it moved when they brushed against it)

"Whatever blows can be sucked" - it's The Creature From The Pit all over again!

I'll stop here for now and watch the second half tomorrow.

A bit later than I expected, but I am picking up where I left off with episode 3.

Today went by pretty quickly, though I got a birthday present for my niece (her birthday's not for a few months, but I figure she'd like it) and mowed my grandma's lawn, so it was worthwhile.

"The slaves must see the sacrifice, to show them who rules." My brain IMMEDIATELY jumped to
O'doyle Rules! (Car Scene) - Billy Madison (1995)

I love how Leela hears about the situation with the Seers, the guards, etc. and immediately declares that the slaves should have a revolution and overthrow the upper classes.

The last episode was all right. I find it hard to believe that the next story is Leela's last one. I wasn't sure how well she'd work as a companion at first, but between this season and Big Finish, she's grown on me.
