[sandman netflix] poking at the new episodes and I gotta say. not a massive fan

season 1 at least did some interesting stuff with bringing the setting into the present + filling in the holes left by removing DC connections + giving a couple characters a little bit of a break

but watching season 2 I'm like..... I could just be reading the comic

which is this but you know, better

also Dream is a lot more insufferable to watch when he's not hot

I do kinda feel like dusting off my Dream account tho

so much of episode 5 is just the story of Orpheus and Eurydice which is like. I could be listening to Hadestown

caveat: if they make any kind of reference, however oblique, to Hadesgame!Orpheus and how he looks a lot more like Dream than Sandman!Orpheus does I will forgive everything

but I don't think that's gonna happen

Destruction's exit in the comics was so iconic and yeah I'm sure it would have looked goofy in live action but they could have done SOMETHING interesting

instead he just kinda poofs away in a shower of sparkles

I read a review that said this all kind of comes off as some very good cosplayers reading the comics out loud and I'm like. yeah. yeah
