It's really annoying that we've been ordering so much for so long and yet for the last year distribution has been absolutely horrible for just about every game we carry.
Tilt
For the pokemon release this past week, we ordered over 200 ETB, we only recieved 20 from 3 different distributors. For the new Magic set, we are getting one tenth of what we ordered.
Tilt
For the new Gundam TCG that releases Friday, we ordered 150 boxes from each of threee distributors. One is sending up 30 boxes, one is sending 24 boxes, and the third is sending one. Just one, and wanted to charge as much for shipping as the box.
Tilt
I mean luckily it's enough to cover the preorders we took, but we're going to have zero product for the shelf. And this is why scalpers are able to charge outrageous prices.
Tilt
We keep our prices pretty close to MSRP, and limit the number that people can buy, but it's still annoying. Especially because then people get mad that we're sold out on release because we're selling collector boosters for $275 that are now going for $450+ online. Or final fantasy where we charged MSRP and now they're going for $1200.
Tilt
If we were to charge market we'd still sell out and make a lot more in the long run, but the whole reason why I agreed to help to keep the store going after the fire was to have a local place where people didn't get ripped off and could have a place to play.
Tilt
But because I'm one of the store owners and tournament organizers I don't get to play any of the games anymore because that's against the Organized Play rules.
Tilt
Well except for D&D which I still enjoy running regularly, but Magic, One Piece, and all the TCG games I have decks that I haven't touched in over a year.
