CW: Medication and Disability Trial talk, but mostly humorous?
SexyBugsIGuess
So last trial they kept really focusing on why I wasn't taking Adderall anymore if it had helped. I did list ADHD as one of my conditions, but throughout me and all my professionals made clear it was the pain and mobility plus depression/anxiety that was the main concern.
SexyBugsIGuess
Either way, they didn't seem to love my answer back then- that i was on the school drug plan when I started, and couldn't afford them once I was off the drug plan. And yes, now (at the time of trial) i was on Ontario Works (Unemployment) and had a new drug plan,
SexyBugsIGuess
but that I would need to reconnect with the ADHD guy who prescribed it, and that my anxiety conditions made that really fucking hard
SexyBugsIGuess
So, I was mentally preparing for new trial, and for them to get on it again. And while above is all still true, I remembered that it had some potential interactions with my medication.
SexyBugsIGuess
So I go find a website that lets you looks that stuff up, enter in all my current meds. There's 4 warnings all ready, which I knew about. I enter adderall, and it jumps up to 9, with 2 serious warnings.

So I have a better answer, which is good, but also, LOL how am I not dead?

This all sounded funnier in my head. I think it's funny still.

Honestly, that is a REALLY good angle. Also, if you have taken other ADHD meds and they haven't worked for you, be prepared to discuss that. Otherwise look up common ones and look for negative interactions there too.
Churby
But things with serious interactions mean increased risks. Not guarantees of issues. Docs tend to be careful with people like us. Hard to diagnose shit if they are making it worse.
Churby
I might suggest getting a letter from your main doc also pointing out that taking adhd meds are contraindicated with your other medications. Failing that perhaps a statement from a pharmacist as they are required to study that shit.
Churby
Having that in your pocket would be useful.

I hate how hard these trials pick at you to find excuses to say no. I get the point is to weed out 'false' cases, but they are just so fucking mean.
SexyBugsIGuess
I haven't tried any others, which they will probably be butts about as well. They were real butts this time about how I haven't tried every possible pain medication basically, and there might be some magic combo out there that fixes me or something??? and my doctor was like WTF??? <3

i know it's their job to pick at this shit, bt yeah it sucks
SexyBugsIGuess
she did write me several letters about that
SexyBugsIGuess
and my counsellor too, when they tried saying my mental health stuff didn't warrent seeing someone as often as I claimed i was
THE ASSET
Let me, as a family that worked in pharma/medical, introduce you to the Merck manual
THE ASSET
It's not just for Merck drugs! But you'll find a lot of information there, easily accessible, and it may help you with future searches
SexyBugsIGuess
ooh thank you <3
THE ASSET
No problem! Just a place to give you a first resource because the research can be overwhelming, especially on top of everything else
