[neg] watches 15 minutes of gnosia then un-wishlists it

連続犬
uh oh

Quinn Angstrom
the concept of the game is that it's a visual novel that's single player mafia

Quinn Angstrom
and I'm like, that sounds cool! you throw around arguments and defenses and try to play it cool if you're the gnosia and you learn more about the characters

Quinn Angstrom
the first two things that strike me are

Quinn Angstrom
1. you are a silent protagonist

Quinn Angstrom
as a member of a social deduction game, you do not have any lines

Quinn Angstrom
other than responding to direct questions

Quinn Angstrom
2. the main gameplay thing you can do other than just watching people talk is like

Quinn Angstrom
you can go to a menu and pick "Cover" or "Defend"

Quinn Angstrom
then it'll insert one line going "You point out some of Setsu's suspicious activity" or "You try poking some holes in Raqio's theory"

Quinn Angstrom
what suspicious activity? what holes? doesn't matter

Quinn Angstrom
you won't find out

Quinn Angstrom
there are no clues

Quinn Angstrom
you just take generic actions according to your stats

Quinn Angstrom
seems miserable!

pastel ranma
wow

Snugglewolf
That idea could go so hard, but that just sounds like a chore

Quinn Angstrom
I understand that it's Going for Something Else other than what it looks like

Quinn Angstrom
but it sure is not the game I thought it was when I wishlisted it

00000000
Oh, that's disappointing. I've had that game wishlisted for a while.

Quinn Angstrom
my understanding is that it's not a mafia game so much as it is a time loop mystery game that uses mafia as its setting

oh i'm scary
I'm getting basically the opposite impression? like not that there isn't a time loop mystery but a lot of the issues you have with it are basically because it is, contrary to what I at least expected, more mafia simulator than VN

oh i'm scary
the game mechanics make for confusing writing from the perspective of this being a scripted story but I'm more forgiving about that when I think of it as Epic Mafia Bot Match

Quinn Angstrom
that specific thing is not my personal observation, it's how the game was described to me elsewhere by people who have beaten it

oh i'm scary
right. I feel like a lot of the Steam reviews describe the game pretty badly

Quinn Angstrom
people here being, trusted friends on discord as a direct response to my initial impressions

oh i'm scary
ah

oh i'm scary
SHRUG

Quinn Angstrom
my current first-order thought from watching it is that like

Quinn Angstrom
every time we're speculating on what would or wouldn't be suspicious or who's acting odd

Quinn Angstrom
I think the same thing

Quinn Angstrom
"is the game actually programmed that smart"

Quinn Angstrom
"or are we just projecting onto a bunch of bots taking random actions"

ProfessorGustav
you might be interested in raging loop, or at least to hear abt the chaos that is raging loop

Quinn Angstrom
I saw a video about raging loop

Quinn Angstrom
I do not think I would have liked it

Quinn Angstrom
anyway I came around on gnosia it seems good, if very different from what I thought it was
