🤔 what does a cleaning person do?

wondering if I can talk my dad into having somone come in like maybe once a month to actually do some stuff

I'd do it myself but I don't want to constantly be the only one cleaning in a household where it's a chronically-ill daughter doing everything for two 74yo people who live in a mess that's only a mess because they just don't do anything

anything you need them to clean essentially, but typical maintenance stuff like vacuuming, dusting, cleaning counters and toilets

i don't have much experience with formal service but you might need to specify that you need a deep clean (which if they don't do it themselves you probably do)

Yeah you typically specify. We have had someone come in and deep clean, which is different than organize, which is different than maintenance. It may be different rates depending on what you're looking for.

because they don't sweep/mop ever

but like, generally you don't have to do those monthly, you could probably just tell them you need an initial deep clean and then monthly maintenance going forward

and I hate the idea of being the one to bother to clean it up because it's not my damn fault no one has swept or mopped in probably years!

i'd say deep clean first, then a maintenance clean once or twice a month afterward

i started out on like.. thumbtack.. and once i found someone i really liked, we made an arrangement outside it

honestly the thing is my dad is cheap :|

bc those services take like half of what you pay

like I asked him to have a lot of garden work done and he only had the trumpet vine cut down and the yucca root pulled

and I've told him Princess is using the carpet outsdie the litterbox and suggested we have the carpet cleaned and he said maybe and it never happened

and it's not because he doesn't have the money, I won't go into details but I know he can afford it

I had a person come a few times and she cleaned the kitchen and bathrooms pretty thoroughly but not deep, vacuumed, mopped, and made my bed. Took her about two hours

we have a cleaning service that comes every other week and does a deep clean once a quarter. they do all the floors, bathrooms, surfaces, and even make my bed if I leave out sheets for them to change as part of the regular clean

and they even vacuum the cat trees
