[JW][spoilers] screaming what a good fucking time rebirth is??? aight no post-credits thank god I think I would've been miffed if they started doing that
I might have Opinions just bc I went in with rock bottom expectations, like, I knew I would be Entertained even if just mindlessly but no it's like genuinely a good-ass time
do you want to like and care about a good many of the characters??? god damn the scenes early on with zora and duncan that establish so much character and feels like. really natural in a way? I was so charmed by the characters honestly
the fact that the mission team and the family team were separated and having their own adventures for most of the movie and going back and forth between them was a choice I thought wouldn't work but it DOES bc you don't overall hate the family
it IS real unfortunate that you can clock who's going to die real quick by who doesn't get any kind of backstory (or in some cases like. name afaik) and it sucks bc you do like even those characters
the cgi for the dinos was solid af; I swear to god some of the backgrounds were like classic painted backgrounds or they gave that feel and it feels GOOD; all of the cg involving the cliff climb with the quetzals was not super great in comparison lol
and while I still think the idea of 'it has to be samples from The Biggest Ones specifically' is tacky, I...okay I can give it to them that 'bc their hearts are the biggest and they live crazy long for it' does make some amount of sense. there isn't any reason to do the land/sea/air thing but w/e!!! we gotta contrive SOME things
some of the dino behaviors are fascinating. like the titanos yeah but like. the breaching mosasaur, that's just a really interesting behavior to have it do breaching jumps not unlike a whale. and yeah the spinos helping it hunt is like. WOULD that happen, ehhhh, but the fact that they put effort into making some really interesting and unique interactions
between species, between individuals, and just really interesting animal behaviors is something that's Good Shit. have I played too much jwe? shut up it's not like I was thinking in park manager terms through the movie (maybe a little)
jw the park was open 2005-2015, the mt sibo eruption (thus fallen kingdom) came 3 years later at 2018, dominion is 4 years after THAT so 2022, and this is FIVE years from THAT so yeah it's 2027 SO 17 years ago would've been 2010
so masrani owned all that stuff by then but kept the ingen branding bc ingen was like. subsidiary of masrani corp. and like. it DOES actually go along with the idea proposed in jw1, bc we get the indy rex, like of COURSE they had a site for fucking around with mutants for fun and profit, that's like how we GET the indy rex
honestly would've loved to see them get fuckin weirder and wilder, a few more mutations, since that was kind of one of the points behind the lab. the idea that these creatures survived like 20 years is nuts
also glad there was no romance. the whole time it was like. I can see z being sweet on loomis. she looked at him sometimes in a way that read as smitten. but at no point is there anything actually there on screen with them and frankly? honestly? appreciate it
apparently in the initial cut of the movie duncan DOES actually die and I'm glad he didn't bc. let's be SUPER DUPER HONEST. you have three black characters and two of them die, killing the third one would've felt SO fucking bad
SO 17 years ago would've been 2010
