I have a band event tomorrow, they didn't send us the music until 10 days ago, and I'm just now starting to practice it

(this is an alumni event for the people who were students of these particular band directors)

anyway nothing like picking up a flute for the first time in 15 years!

my shoulders hurt and I've only rehearsed one of the songs

out of ten

footnote: nothing like picking up the flute after ten years AND it's an open-hole flute

I'd be doing okay if I were using a student model sheesh

my fingers don't want to do the thing

just got home from the 2-hour rehearsal

there's some kind of muscle memory about rhythm going on because even if I get lost and have no idea what's going on I end up at the end at the end somehow

so

I'll make it through I guess

sure want to take a nap before the main event happens though

the thing about something that is functionally a high school reunion is I'm kind of faceblind to begin with

and now I have to recognize people who look 30 years older
