I was napping and my brain started aggressively world building and story writing and I woke up and I can feel it all draining away and I’m just like “Nooooooooooo!”
Angry Popoto
And it was a dream about rediscovering an RP that I’d run with a friend where I’d created this incredible, sprawling world for the two of us to explore, with sketches and drawings of this gorgeous architecture that I only half-remembered at the time
Angry Popoto
I was going back over it with her and “the chat,” a group of others that she had apparently documented a lot of the stuff to, and as we went through I kept remembering, “Oh right, this spot! Yeah, I know it wasn’t as well-developed as the rest, but that’s because we were in a time crunch at that point. Yeah, I had other areas and other encounters planned,-

-but we never got around to them because of what was happening at the time.”

oh I hate that

At the end I decided that, okay, there was obviously a ton of interest in this world and this story that I had created for a friend (friends? I think there was a party of characters) to explore, and I was remembering more and more, so I was going to actually sit down and write it as a proper story.
Angry Popoto
Maybe as a comic, because so much of it involved visuals that I was able to actually draw/sketch with dream-skills that were coming back to me the more I did it.

shinotenshi22 : it’s so freaking heartbreaking
Angry Popoto
Because at the moment I woke up I frantically tried to remember as much as I could, but I don’t remember much except for the two characters that “I” played were a girl named Ruo and a boy named Mal who was villain-coded but wasn’t the actual villain, and there were four others of various elemental flavors
Angry Popoto
There was a giant stone pillar that had a kind of hang-glider ride with two levels of three “kites” each, which is how I know that there were six characters
Angry Popoto
Everything was stone and air and ethereal, at least in that one village, and there was a heaven-vs-hell sort of motif, with “heaven” being bronze-and-gold and sort of airy steampunkish vibes, and “hell” being dark and fire and lava and heavy stone, with soot and black metal and roaring engines
Angry Popoto
And- and- and- and the “heaven” areas were all but abandoned with just a few people left, clinging to life in the rocky villages on the mountaintops, whereas the “hell” areas were over-crowded and aggressive, but I feel like there was some kind of twist waiting in the story that meant that “heaven” and “hell” weren’t at all appropriate descriptors
Angry Popoto
But I don’t remember what it was
