China suspected of massive counterfeiting of U.S. driver' licenses
Just the News:the intelligence report raised concerns about China's involvement in a massive counterfeiting of U.S. driver's licenses in furtherance of a larger conspiracy to help then-Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden gain an electoral advantage through fraudulent mail-in ballots.
Reports date back to August 2020. Were not investigated in depth at the time and were withdrawn by intelligence agencies. Former FBI Director Christopher Wray testified in Congress that the FBI did not find any known foreign interference conspiracy before the 2020 presidential election. Biden eventually defeated Trump, who was seeking re-election.
Chinese government continued to produce and export counterfeit U.S. driver's licenses. According to the sources, the purpose of this conspiracy was to assist Chinese residents in the United States to establish false identities and then use counterfeit mail-in ballots to improperly assist Biden's election campaign.
Although the intelligence report was eventually withdrawn, sources revealed that during the period when the intelligence report was released, the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) successfully intercepted approximately 20,000 counterfeit driver's licenses.
Related reports in 2020 show that CBP officials seized 19,888 counterfeit driver's licenses at Chicago International Airport by the end of June of that year. New York's Fox News 5 reported at the time that most of the seized counterfeit driver's licenses came from Hong Kong and mainland China, while the rest came from South Korea and the United Kingdom.
CBP said in a statement at the time that these fake documents were mainly used by college students, and many of them used the same photo but with different names.
