Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma | Launch Trailer
Got this on a whim since I got a bit of a bonus at work and it's actually pretty good so far!

Nox

Nox
wanted something cute and simple to help with mental health things, and it's definitely both of those things

Nox
Also very pretty just to look at, even if on the default settings

Nox
Like it was past the 10 hour mark before I realized "oh hey, I didn't check the video settings" and realized it was all defaulted to medium

Nox
also am I building a team of fuckin little violence gremlins? You bet I am

Hyatt
wait, you can have team members that aren't pretty much useless? is this really a Rune Factory game?

Nox
They haven't felt useless so far, but they also haven't felt too necessary, but I'm also still early in the game

Nox
exception being having someone along who can heal once you get to the second island, since then enemies start poisoning you and the healer will periodically deal with that before you even have to worry about it

Nox
a full team of 4 (3 party members + you) seems to handle just about everything so far, but I'm sure I'll need to cycle squads later in the game

Nox
But I meant more that I was angling for teammates with personality types that uh...should not get things done, at least not without collateral damage and/or infighting

Hyatt
in the previous/mainline RF games, your "party" is either recruited monsters or villagers you have enough friendship with. almost all of them are very weak and will spend most fights knocked unconscious, until all enemies in the area are defeated and they revive

Nox
Oh they still seem like they're fragile, but I can usually plow through stuff fast enough it's not an issue

Nox
Only time it's a problem is when we run into a random overleveled enemy, then I have to pay a bit more attention

Nox
I haven't tried taking monsters out yet just because they're too valuable for crafting materials on the farm |D

Hyatt
that makes me curious. I'm interested in games where you can recruit NPCs to do work for you, and I read that that's a major mechanic in GoA. you can get monsters to water, harvest, or plant crops for you in previous games, but usually only watering is worth it

Hyatt
IIRC you can't choose what they plant, and you want the Rune bonuses from harvesting (and in the first two games you might want to leave certain fields unharvested so they give a daily rune orb)

Nox
Don't know if I can assign them to work crops yet, so far that's limited to villagers

Nox
But yeah, you can't pick what the ones assigned to farming plant as far as I'm aware
