I've been poking at the games and (and supplementary materials because I sure have a type and thus adopted a boy) and

did humanity go and return to the beginning

something like that yeah

do you know what Bhunivelze's deal is? (This stuff was buried in the optional logs in 13)

I'm out from regular access to the interweb for a couple of weeks and will finish watching the third game after but lmao

the playthroughs do not show the logs, sadly, I'll have to hunt that down later since there are also character snippets I'm curious about.

yeah, a lot of the lore in 13 was buried in optional content and hidden in back menus

my ongoing argument is that 13's isn't an issue of story but storytelling

I'm definitely enjoying it as a story but I've no idea if I'd have lasted though the whole thing as a game. not without knowing the carrots at the end, at the very least

but yeah, the storytelling is at the very least poorly paced, and if lore stuff is not in the main story, I can see people getting incredibly frustrated and disappointed

I am loving the characters, however. I'm loving more of the antagonists than I usually do, too. raines, rosch, rygdea, caius, even lumina so far are very good to me (I know Rygdea technically isn't, but, you know)

(can't exactly separate him from Raines and he technically is a boss fight)

ff13 has fantastic antagonists

like I said my main dispute with the game is storytelling, and a friend and I once spent a car ride like "okay if we move this here and change the pov here, this makes it better"

Raines was also top meta in Dissidia Opera Omnia for a while

the Angeal bits in oo were so good

Raines would do additional attacks on any launched enemies, no matter who in the party launched them

Lightning and Noel were both high tier on instant breaking enemies and delaying their turns
