[work] today is the kindergarten’s last day before their promotion ceremony and our student who speaks only Spanish has been picking up a little English but today she told me “bye” said my name and gave me a hug. Excuse me while I cry

We were so worried when our current person in the White House was elected and we didn’t see her for like two weeks but she’s been coming to school and she knows we’re a safe space so she feels comfortable now

When I ran the classroom yesterday she wanted to eat lunch with me so we ate together while she watched a cute Spanish cartoon about a rabbit family

I’m just still tearing up when I think about how she said my name and gave me a hug

it's so good that she knows she's safe with you, that's so important and I hope you know the work you do is always important

Thank you Drea! Sometimes when we have to deal with administrative stuff or school politics or unruly parents it does make me wonder why did I pick this field but then things like this happen and I get reminded why

I remember doing my teaching and legitimately wondering why some of the people I saw working there did a the job when all they did was bring other people down. You're clearly not doing that and there for the right reason

oh no more tears but thank you! I've always loved education no matter how much it gets put down i love it and i know that sadly some students don't receive much encouragement at home so I wanted to make sure that I could make school a place they liked.

i really struggled with this after the level of bullying I received last school year it made me question everything about myself even being in this field, but after today it just made me realize why I do what I do

My grandma always said that the energy you put out into the world will always come back to you so I do my best even when I'm having a depression episode or my anxiety is buzzing to put a smile on and make it a great day
