I'm not the one to ask about how to switch to Linux, I'm barely tech literate. However I can say I've gotten the game Expedition 33 working on there just fine so at this point it generally isn't an issue of compatibility

also GIMP's not so bad these days. I've just never been able to successfully get my true love CSP running right on WINE. Linux is generally a superior experience to Windows these days but there are inevitably some programs one will have to give up

I moved to Linux after Windows blew up my HD and am happy with it. I use Bazzite, which runs on Fedora. That said, I use it as a gaming rig, so I can't weigh in on art programs and that's def an important concern.
