hey universe, fuck you???

god so like. every year since I was in high school I've gone to a sci-fi con in Minneapolis over 4th of July weekend. and ever since I was in like. college I've almost always signed up to be on panels at said con.

I pretty consistently get on the panels that I sign up to be on, and the convention usually sends feedback after the con is done and I usually get pretty good feedback on how I run my panels

like there's been a few cases of stuff getting a little off the rails like the D&D panel I was on last year run but a guy who just wanted to talk about his old campaigns, but the majority have gone very well

so this year, like always, panel sign ups come around, I throw my hat in on 6 different panels and I figure I'll probably wind up with like 3 panels on my schedule

well. the schedule got posted yesterday. and I'm on zero

like. none of them

now granted there's two panels I signed up for that didn't make the cut but I'm not on any of the other four

and it's just like. what???

panels are like. one of the things I enjoy the most about going to this convention. it's basically the way I put my volunteer hours in and contribute to the community!

and just. getting absolutely fucking rejected wholesale just. fucking sucks

especially when I am just getting rejected from every other fucking thing in my life right now!!!

also I've checked and I sent in my sign up the same day they posted that panel sign ups were open on bluesky but in the email response they sent to me it says "The following panels have already been scheduled and you are not able to automatically sign up for them. The programming department will evaluate your request."

with like. five out of the six panels listed

which I guess has been included in previous years but also I still got on those panels???

ugh Wtf

anyway I sent them an email like. "can you please tell me how to improve in future years" but also I'm big sad about this

also the dog woke me up at like. 6am and I haven't been able to get back to sleep since

update: emailed them and apparently the reason why is because I submitted my application too late

on review, I did miss a bsky post on Feb 1st

while I submitted my stuff on Apr 18

but also like. I wasn't aware this shit was first come first serve
