Hey, I'm looking for some information. Have any of you ever gotten coleslaw with the tortilla chips at a Mexican restaurant?

Vehrec
I have personally seen this at two different places

Vehrec
and I'm wondering if it's a strictly local thing or if it's spreading around.

BattroidBattery
Never seen it

BattroidBattery
does kind of make sense as a cool alternative to salsa if the area has a lot of people who consider pico too spicy, I guess...

Villain
Coleslaw???

Villain
No I can’t say I have

Vehrec
BattroidBattery
: It is Ohio so...

Rama
Long just coleslaw?

Rama
*Like

Rama
I feel like if someone tried that in Texas they'd get shot

Vehrec
Rama
: Coleslaw and salsa in seperate bowls

Vehrec
the coleslaw bowl is the smaller one.

Vehrec
it's a very mild salsa as well

Rama
That's definitely some Midwest shit

Rama
Maybe California idk, they put coleslaw on fish tacos out there

BattroidBattery
slaw on fish tacos is god's way, heathen

Rama
I respect it but by the time you've reached that point your only commonality with Tex-mex is using some kind of tortilla

izzy.vrm
i have never seen coleslaw as its own side at a mexican place

izzy.vrm
especially not w/ chips

izzy.vrm
and the slaw that goes on fish tacos isn't like. picnic-style slaw with mayo. at least not where i've been here in LA

BattroidBattery
yeah in CA it's more likely to be some sort of asian fusion kinda slaw

Rama
In my experience it's cole slaw (the veggies) with an unusual sauce

Rogal Dorn
That sounds heretical
