Recently, more and more new plurkers have joined Plurk to hang out and have fun. To help everyone get started quickly, this post offers a simple and easy-to-follow guide on how to use Plurk. We’ll also be updating it from time to time with useful tips.
1. Creating an Account Go to the Plurk homepage and click on “Sign up for your free Plurk account.” If you don’t use English, you can change the language at the bottom of the page (34 languages available). Then, fill in your information:
2. What is "Timeline"? That’s right—Plurk’s layout is horizontal! The newer posts are on the left. Scrolling down moves you to the right, and scrolling up moves you to the left.
Home Click the little house icon in the top-left corner. No matter where you are on Plurk, clicking it will bring you back to your own timeline.
Filters You can filter posts using the five categories shown in the image to help you find what you're looking for more easily. Plurk Coin users get an extra filter: “Mentioned.”
What appears on your timeline? You’ll see: Posts you’ve created, liked, reposted, or commented on Posts from users you follow Posts that have been reposted by the above Private messages sent to you
You won’t see random posts from strangers—there’s no algorithm deciding what shows up.
Anonymous Plurk’s anonymous board. To post here, you must: Verify your email Have at least 5 friends Be registered for more than 30 days However, all users can reply to posts here.
4. How to search? Just type in a keyword to search for: Relevant posts Plurkers (by nickname or bio) Your own posts, posts with images, or emoticon packs
Note: Regular users can only search content from roughly the past year. Plurk Coin users have no such time limit.
5. What is Plurk Coin? Plurk Coin is a virtual currency on Plurk. Just one coin gives you premium features, such as: Removing ads Larger custom sticker storage Advanced post privacy settings Pinning a specific post to the top of your timeline Keyword filters for your timeline
Each Plurk Coin lasts for 30 days. You can gift unused coins to others (but you can’t gift your only coin). You can check your Plurk Coin activity in the Coin Ledger. To receive coins through Anonymous, you’ll need to verify your phone number first.
6. More Info My Bookmarks Shows all the posts you’ve starred (Plurk Coin users only). My Images Shows all images you’ve uploaded to Plurk, even if the post they were in is deleted.

Settings & Customize layouts Personalize your timeline’s look and feel. Other users will see your setup when they visit your timeline. (More on this in a later section.)

7. Plurk creatures These are just cute little creatures on your timeline — they have no actual function. You can choose to hide them or change their appearance with custom images or GIFs using simple syntax.
Emoticons One of Plurk’s signature features. You can use built-in emoticons, dice rolls, or upload your own custom images/GIFs. Free users: max 60 custom emoticons Plurk Coin users: up to 1,000 custom emoticons
Uploaded moticons are shared under the CC0 license, meaning anyone can use, modify, or reuse them freely. Do not upload images you don’t own the rights to, like someone else’s LINE stickers.
Share Media For uploading photos or GIFs (videos are not supported). Free users: max image size = 1024px on the longest side Plurk Coin users: images under 2.5MB keep original resolution; larger ones are resized to max 2048px
Privacy options Control who can view and reply to your post (everyone, selected friends, or just you), whether it can be shared, and if it’s marked as adult content (18+). 18+ posts require login to view and won’t appear in the Public Timeline. You must set your birthday and be 18+ to access this option.
Karma Karma reflects how active you are on Plurk. Some stickers are unlocked only when you reach a certain Karma level. Posting, replying, and getting replies will increase your Karma. Inactivity or being rejected as a friend will lower it. If you’ll be away for a while, you can turn on "Karma Vacation Mode" in Settings.
Friends and Followers Becoming friends requires mutual approval. Followers can follow you without your approval. You’ll be notified when someone sends a friend request or follows you. Removing a friend or unfollowing someone won’t send them a notification.
9. Settings Click your ID in the upper right corner of the page, then choose Settings. Profile Edit your profile info and change your nickname color (Plurk Coin users get 6 more color options). Widget Get code to embed your Plurk feed on other websites.
Timeline Set your timezone and how timestamps appear. Plurk Coin users can also set keyword filters here. Privacy Settings Choose whether your timeline is public or private, and adjust other privacy options.
Public Timeline: Anyone can view your posts; they can be found via search. Private Timeline: Only friends can see your posts. Your posts can’t be shared or used in Anonymous Confessions.
10. How to Customize My Timeline? Click your ID in the upper right corner, then select Customize Theme. The built-in settings let you change your theme colors and upload a custom background. To change fonts, post layout, or go deeper into customization, paste your CSS code into the Custom CSS box.
Plurk Theme Generator (Thanks to plurker hoshikata , translator wiichicken) If you don’t know CSS but still want to tweak your layout, try the Plurk Theme Generator! Once you’re done, click “Export” and paste the full code into the Custom CSS box.
