[Phone] I need to get a new phone so bad. Is there a checklist of 'what to do' before getting a new phone? Have a general idea of what I want. Just wanna make sure I'm not gonna accidentally lock myself out of stuff cause of 2FA

You keep your old phone so you can do all your logins and 2FA stuff before you put your SIM card in it

TC : what if it's a trade in situation?

if you are planning a trade in then like the people at the store can either tell you or do it for you depending on the situation.

if it's an online trade in....uuuuuh idk, never done it

just for during the new phone set up phase, turn off 2fa where you can. and if you can't then have the 2 in the 2fa be email or somethin else you're able to access via pc. i upgraded by phone a few years back (like 2-3 years ago) via in store trade in and had zero issue with 2fa stuff. was able to get into all my apps etc just fine fwiw

I'm gonna try to get any important stuff off my phone this week and try to do the trade this weekend or so

yeah i'd just disable that tbh. i don't foresee it being a problem, but my paranoid ass would just turn it off for a day or two while the upgrade took place
