Morph is the most interesting one here, they're a canon he/they shapeshifter who (at least in the comics) was a goo-baby at birth so good luck figuring out what their genitals actually looked like
granted the X-Men '97 version may end up having a different backstory to the one from Exiles but... we don't know what that is yet, so I take the comic background as canon until further notice
the potential for this to be an intersex allegory is definitely there but probably unintended when the comic was published, it was an early 2000s one and the Morph in Exiles is definitely straight
not so for '97 Morph - they have a canon crush on the most manly of all mutants, Wolverine, so I do interpret them as gay (though Morph being bi is totally acceptable, we just haven't seen that yet)
I do use 'they' in RP partially out of habit, partially because it makes writing a paragraph easier when I don't have to use 'he' 10 when Morph is talking to a guy, lol. but Morph is totally fine being treated or referred to as a guy - their regular form is on the androgynous side but still fairly masc
on the other hand they absolutely take femme forms in canon and don't seem to mind doing so at all, so I figure they don't have a problem with presenting femme on a short-term basis? it would be really easy to say a shapeshifter is genderfluid but based on the word of god that's nnnnot really the case?
ofc I have found interviews with one writer indicating a genderfluid sort of thinking, and on the other hand the he/they has been very clearly confirmed, so idk fam
Apollo does get a lot of trans headcanons, and for good reason... I'm totally fine with those but I also expect that question to never come up in non-sexual RP so ??? Mr Apollo 'I want to be as normal as possible' Justice probably isn't going to be an outspoken member of any lgbtq+ community
even though as a defense attorney in Japanifornia I do assume he's on the progressive side, Apollo is just a very private person who hasn't even told his found-family coworkers a hint about his background until Spirit of Justice
god and I've been in the fandom since AJ came out, everyone was ready to assume Apollo was just a normal orphan, the 'raised in fantasy Tibet' REALLY came out of left field
as for him being gay, there is like. one girl that has a crush on him in the games and while he acts embarrassed about it he doesn't acknowledge it at all?? and that's the last time Junie talks to him iirc lmao so he's easy to interpret as gay, though my dark secret is that I don't really ship him with Klavier so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
being straight/gay/queer as part of someone's identity is a really new modern thing! I don't know any estimated dates for that, but possibly 1800s sometime?
we also don't know a whole ton about ancient egyptian sexuality. what IS known is that there really weren't any major prohibitions against sex in general, marriage was extremely casual and amounted to moving in with your partner, and it doesn't seem like there were any major laws or rules against gay sex??
however hetero sexuality is very strongly tied into stories about the gods and resurrection myths and everything that's been found in tombs at the same time
(there's also that tomb that scholars are still debating on if it was a gay couple that also each had their own families, or if the two were brothers - sry to the doubters but it seems pretty gay to me considering most ppl were buried with their wives, not with siblings)
so as far as Imhotep goes... he's been raised in a society where it's expected that he'll have to marry and have kids, but given that he's also the human personality of an actual god I... honestly think he'd have a far easier time squirming out of the 'must marry' pressures than other people at the time
but it's a canon where he's both super devoted to his male best friend, to the point of near obsession, and gets in a great dynamic with the female lead, so there you go 👍
(the historical Imhotep does have a named wife, assuming that's even the correct name and not one invented later by his worshipers, so... maybe he ends up meeting someone back in the past who's as firey as Hinome is)
tfw you're 'as close as brothers to the king' and can't get the honor of being buried in the tomb like Djoser's wife is - well okay that DOES sound pretty gay
NO WAIT LISTEN the adjacent rooms in a pharaoh's pyramid are for wives and close family members I'm pretty sure Im just wants a room in the pyramid like what his wife is getting, is that so much to ask
so he's easy to interpret as gay, though my dark secret is that I don't really ship him with Klavier so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
his pharaohitjust accept his goodwill and get your own luxury pyramid right next to his!the adjacent rooms in a pharaoh's pyramid are for wives and close family members I'm pretty sure
