[IRL] I am so grateful I was able to move to a blue state

and a blue city in a blue state!

this was in a freebie newspaper I picked up at the diner I ate lunch at

it's just good to have the reminder that there ARE politicians on local levels also fighting back against this administration and still trying to improve things in their areas

and I know I've mostly been complaining about IRL stuff because I'm in a shitty apartment, but believe me, I'm still happy to be in Albuquerque

for those who might be new to my plurk, I used to live in far south Texas, so having to read the news about how unhinged Texas has gotten in the past few years was like, constant internal screaming

like... I know Texas has been conservative for over 20 years, but it was never the criminally rights-taking MAGA bullshit before. that's very much a recent development. Texas used to be a place where everyone minded their own business and generally people could do whatever they wanted without anyone butting in.

that is no longer true for Texas but it is true for New Mexico and I think NM is going to be able to hold onto that better
