but like. playing him in amnesia means I gotta think about things like timing and whatnot and breaking his backstory down into chunks, etc.

and I realized. if Astarion's been a vampire for ~200 years, Cazador's ritual required 7000 souls to be sacrificed, that only nets out to like...35 people per year

like I guess we can assume that Cazador wasn't gunning for the ritual from day one but Astarion does mention luring victims in his first decade so like. assuming they kept a relatively consistent pace and the other spawn were contributing he's actually not out and hunting very frequently

which, you know, makes sense. you can't just snatch up huge swaths of the population for your evil vampire plan without folks getting wise to it

it's just interesting to put into the context of was astarion out there fucking someone every single night? probably not

but also probably that leaves a whole lot more time for getting starved and tortured
