we hope. would not put it past this admin to double down, say it was for her, and she needs to leave. and then use that as precedent to deport more immigration lawyers, because they deserve the same punishment as their clients

: I mean the casualness is no small issue, the government isn't supposed to send this kind of legal notice by anything except registered mail for VERY good reason. It read like spam to the lawyer, and a lot of vulnerable immigrants don't even have email addresses.
it probably was a DOGE recommendation. "why are we wasting so much money on certified mail and personal visits to criminals? this could just be an email!"
Before the election, someone I knew who was claiming it didn't matter who won because - in his words - "They're both as bad as the other". He said he wasn't going to vote. Said his citizenship went through so he's fine and won't be deported...
Very soon after all this got as bad as we warned him it was possible to get he dropped out of the game h was in
But this is terrifying, cause even knowing there is no where for them to deport me to (I was born in the US as were my parents, and I think 3 of my grandparents) that doesn't feel like something that would stop this administration at this point
I just felt the need to note that the lawyer in this story still thinks it's 99% chance a clerical error rather than actually threatening her on purpose
and now she's confirmed not the only one. was it part of the same batch, or will it just be the standard now to mass email threatening letters without making sure they're going to the right people?
