Andy scheduled Karly's... terminal vet visit for tomorrow

acelessthan3
we've been trying to treat her extra good this weekend, got a nice walk in the sun yesterday

acelessthan3
she gets a rotisserie chicken (that I'm going to de-bone) for dinner tonight

acelessthan3
since the diabetes debacle two weeks ago, she's been back one time to get antibiotics for a severe infection because she's licked her elbows and tail raw

acelessthan3
which because diabetes and Cushing's can both slow healing means she's likely to just keep getting repeat infections if we don't keep her clean and coned constantly, which is just miserable because she hates the cone and just lies there all sad

acelessthan3
she's also still mildly incontinent if we aren't taking her out to pee all the time, which makes it harder to keep her clean

poor baby ...

Andy decided this morning he's going to postpone a few weeks, see if the antibiotics help clear her up enough she's not needing the cone constantly

acelessthan3
gonna talk with a quality of life specialist the vet has on staff

acelessthan3
might give a clearer sign of what to look for wrt doggy suffering vs just being old

acelessthan3
if infections become recurrent tho

ugh it's so hard when animals get old

acelessthan3
rescheduled for Sunday morning

yeah, we went through this with my childhood doggo. we brought him up to the family place, and brought him to the vet to ask about quality of life.

Thyme_Traveler
silly doggo perked up and lived another 4 months.

So sorry for your loss Danny. How is the little one taking it?
