like we can and should discuss those things and don't deny that it is an appropriate label but also like the entire discussion is different if that's your starting point lol
and it's even weirder because it tends to go along with making the character they want to defend seem worse? because making a complicated situation black and white removes a lot of nuance on both sides
or even worse these days when it's all regurgitated ip, people taking the stance of "it wasn't specifically what I wanted/was imagining/was looking for And So It Is Bad"
I'm so sunk into HotD and navigating around "I wanted it to be more like the (intentionally) misogynistic book/I want every episode to be a battle/I just don't care about what women feel" is... exhausting
also anyone taking the book which was upfront written from unreliable sources and being like IT'S NOT WHAT I WANTED is another level of absurd because the entire point was that it was a lot of biased accounts
i am so far removed that i didn't even realise that there is a not insignificant amount of people who engage in fandom and don't even consume the source material
like beyond show fans being like "i never read the book" it's like this is baffling to me who does the opposite and wants to know all the details but this came up on discord the other day and i was amazed lol
it may be that it exists but i get tired of wading through all the x reader stuff to find it and it's harder than it ought to be to filter all of it out
I do remember something like that from the jonsa era of fandom psychosis, some of the biggest pushers hadn't even read the series or had just read sansa excerpts and WOULD STILL make arguments that jonsa was endgame for the books, too
an opinion on it
this is baffling to me who does the opposite and wants to know all the details but this came up on discord the other day and i was amazed lol
if i want to find fanfiction i have to write it myself lmao
