it will be fine and we will be fine and he’s not going to get taken away or put down, this is not the 80’s anymore, he is very smart and trainable we just need help.
i'm so sorry cami, what a terrible situation. i know you guys are doing right by him and your neighbors. fwiw - the reactivedogs subreddit has some resources for stuff to try at home until you can get a behaviourist to call back. they're also good for support and venting.
I admit I panicked first thing. one of my childhood dogs bit several people and only avoided being put down because someone came and got him the night before the appointment. Pip is very different though and we can do things to prevent a repeat incident
also nobody has called us yet which, so far so good. Maybe we won’t get sued? The kid apparently said dogs bite him all the time (????) and his parents weren’t even home and therefore didn’t know he was here, so idk.
also it's on sight for my fucking childcare flex account holders who waited until the day after March 31 to deny my reimbursement claim after dicking me around for the past couple months
(March 31 was the cutoff for 2024 reimbursements but I still mysteriously could not pay the kindercare bill today, April 1, 2025, so I decided I still get to submit a new reimbursement claim)
the training consultation for Pip is set for Sunday evening, I really liked the woman I spoke to and thank u again

for that list. she even said that if it ever happens again we shoudl call her bc she can be a go-between with cops or animal control and navigate us thru any legal processes
and also assured me that cops/AC have to be called within 24 hours of the incident so we're definitely in the clear legally. but pointed out that even the worst case scenario incident she's worked with left the dog still alive and with its family, just with limitations
