i've only found 2 cylinder makers on amazon. my initial vote is for the mr heater fuel keg. the flame king's vent requires an allen wrench to open. that's getting lost immediately. the fuel keg vent valve has a nice big ring on it to operate it. strikes me as better design
first one i saw on yt. not great but it doesn't sux as bad as the volunteer video on amazon. (there is no air in the cylinder. empty cylinders have residual propane gas. the vent on the keg allows the liquid form the 20lb bottle to displace the gas)
for the fun of it i may look at the local hardware store to price the fittings to put this together myself. I don't have a feel for these good or bad. my knee jerk reaction is knockoff
their pic of the valve open and closed: if the handle is set up that way it's bad: error prone. if the pic is just mislabeled it's still bad: what else did they get wrong?
the thought here is for use in an emergency. think hurricane katrina: power and services were unavailable for a long time. propane liquid will cause frostbite. if the hospital isn't available severe frostbite could be life threatening.
katrina conditions: very hot, very humid. chances are good you will not be in optimal condition yourself. my opinion of new orleans in the summer: go inside where it's air conditioned. plan for adverse conditions during the survival situation. avoid setting yourself up to fail
end note: crap happens. the texas power grid goes down. michigan get blizzard level snow storms. flooding on the east coast. fires on the west cost. what would you do if your power was out for 2 weeks? will you have to boil water to make it safe to drink? rice and beans are boring but for 2 weeks they'll keep you alive. you have to cook the rice…
the notion that sparked this dive down the rabbit hole was not about the russians invading. i'm a cold war kid. every so often the detroit freepress published nuclear warhead damage maps for detroit. wayne state university still had fallout shelter signs and equipment. the water barrels were used as trashcans. duck and cover was over by my time
first stop propane to isobutane stove connector
if you decide to go isobutane you may end up with 2 cans ½ full.
want to carry 1?
thought interesting.
i think these are the same people who made my heater.
not sure if it's worth it

haven't looked for alternatives.
i may fall back on the idea that the appropriate hole saw and a 2x6 provides a cheaper solution
are you a powder coat or a bare brass guy?
(guy is gender neutral in my head)
if this is in your survival kit, it's sitting in the storage tub waiting for disaster.
dirt etc. are not your friends.
