I also really appreciate that, despite how cute the game is, even if I hadn't seen the video, there would be something ominous about the fact that you're picking up the story from what SHOULD be near the end of it.
it's like, that subtle unnerving feeling of playing someone else's old save game file, and realizing they got so close to the end, but for some reason never finished it.
oh damn, everyone but Siffren has a really good reason for wanting to see this through. Siffren's just here because what else are they gonna do with their life?...I'm sure that's fine. Not depressing at all
i love how it plays with the standard tropes of the genre like "yeah sure protag is kinda a blank slate for the player to project on so we are not gonna question at all siffrin just here for no particular reason"
the hints of Sif dropping from sky into this world are pretty interesting, too. like, he's being jokey jokey about it, but like, he doesn't seem to know much about the customs of this world, doesn't talk about his past, doesn't have a goal for beating the king other then "being with you guys makes me happy", and doesn't have any solid plans for his future
