Today begins a very long-haul prank I’m intending to play on my roommate.

I played trumpet in high school but haven’t owned one since then. My roommate has never heard me play any instrument at all.

I’m about to pick up a new trumpet.

Factor 1: when I work, we work very different schedules and I have a lot of time home alone. Time to practice.

Factor 2: Seattle has something called the Rainbow City Orchestra, an audition-free amateur orchestra that does a full performance schedule every year.

Goal: get good, get into RCO, tell roommate we’re gonna go watch this orchestra with our friends, say I’ll meet them there. And I will. But my seat gonna be on stage. SURPRISE
