I finally watched the Droid ep from The Mandalorian, I had watched Jessie Gender's video on it too. I must admit, I don't mind droids liking serving in an in-universe perspective, they are programmed to feel euphoric when completing their tasks, and the idea of their payment being that they are well taken care of makes kind of sense.

Comet
But yeah, considering they are supposed to represent a lower class of sorts, it can have bad implications off-universe, it gets too close to: "It's fine I'm a slave, they took good care of me!" eh.....

Comet
Thought my personal main issue is Djin's shit not being dealt with. We bring up his unjust treatment of droids, but he doesn't really learn from it in any way. They were probably pressed for time since there was the scene with the Mandalorian fleet, but maybe if he was forced to work WITH a B2 to solve everything? idk

Comet
Mostly frustrating how the way he speaks with Droids can be a bit racist/xenophobic/etc coded, especially the "They all look suspicious to me". u'now? I don't think that was the intent but still. I wonder if it's something he'll have to deal with in the movie or if he'll never be challenged by it

Comet
Anyway, mostly cool to see how Droid Bars worked, and the Nephenté lubricant with Program-patching particles, added to my droid lore! ALSO, the two droids in front of the bar! Can't tell me they weren't flirting, no way!

Comet
A way they could have dealt with Djin's deal was making so the B2 wasn't malfunctioning, just defending himself from Djin. Then a actual malfunctioning droid pops up. force him to re-evaluate.

Comet
also again, it's cute that CIS droids are around. They are better taken care off than they have ever been their wholes time in the war. And that dock manager, I like to think he is a OOM, him hearing about the incident and running checks in all B2s, it gives a sad picture of him attempting to keep his fellow CIS droids safe.

Comet
<- Reading WAY too much into this lol

Comet
listen, there is people who really like the mandalorians, I like the droids okay?

Comet
actually, rent free in my mind: Here's a basic rewrite from a non-writer lmao

Comet
Turns out, the B2 wasn't bugged. Investigation shows that the last protocol was self-defense, and they missed an actually malfunctioning droid. Since Mando instigated it, they get in trouble and are almost told to leave, but Bo Katan convinces they to give them another chance. She is pissed at mando for almost ruining it, but they have a lead to a Droid bar.

Comet
from here, the episode follows normally. It is very simple, but my biggest issue is Mando actions being validated. Here, there is some consequence. His droid problem doesn't need to be fixed, but this could lead to being metigated in the future.

Comet
This is the most condensed version too, since I know the reason was most likely episode time, I would argue that the first few moments of the ep are useless, but they are also fun...
