I think back to the old days when gaming leaks were either 1) poorly taken blurred car part pics from someone's basement/garage
2) Gaming magazines with vague intel
3) The most reliable source of all: That one kid who had a family member that worked at Nintendo

You KNEW they were bullshitting, but they were entertaining enough to help lunch fly by

But anywho

While at heart, this is simply a bigger and better performing Switch... I like how it looks? It shows they have learned not to add new goofy gimmicks anymore after the WiiU era

The Switch has outperformed the PS2 in terms of sales, so why reinvent the wheel? Just modify little things that need to be tweaked on the OG Switch like battery power and graphics

Bonus points is that the OG Switch's game library is compatible with the Switch 2, so we won't be getting Switch 2 exclusive games right out the gate

One of the biggest questions is how much this will be since getting a new console is like buying a new car nowadays <_>

I know I didn't get my Switch till the end of Year 1 when I had a chance to play with it with a friend and get to know the system more closely

My old Switch is still working, so I won't be jumping immediately to get this... Plus I'd like to see more of the games that the Switch 2 can offer

It's funny comparing this to the original Switch reveal video

There was a music video and people playing it to get you excited! This one has more marketed Apple/Sony energy where they show what it looks like, then shoo you out the door... Very straightforward

The thing that strikes me is that even if there hadn’t been leaks this didn’t really reveal much except “it is bigger and the joycons might have mouse functionality.”

They’d already said it was backwards compatible that’s not even new official news.

And like. Mario Kart. But you could have guessed that reasonably well.

they've got a wholeass campaign lined up for it over the next couple months

It just feels hilariously passive aggressive after the mountain of leaks where it's more like "OKAY FINE HERE IT'S OFFICAL NOW" instead of "We're happy to announce the Switch 2!"

But yeah... I don't think anyone was expecting this to reveal everything it had right off the bat since they did this with the original Switch too. First, a teaser trailer than they show off more in a few months

The only real matters of interest for me are performance, storage loading speed, how much extra power will boost older games, price, and the games itself. Which won’t come till later, so this never was gonna be super exciting for me.

they'll be doing a media tour with it starting in april, so that'll likely be around when we get the nitty gritty

Personally, I'm happy that they're making it official now since people have been reaaaaally impatient for this thing

I guess depending on the price I might like the switch 2 since I haven't had an honest to god console in years and upgrading to a decent PC that can game is a lot…..

Oooh... Def. look into getting a Switch 2 if you never owned a Switch 1!

Bonus points is that the Switch 1's game library will transfer over, so you won't be missing out on an era
