I remember the first time I heard it was uhhhh. The "all routes lead to doom" one where she became a villainess who just gets owned no matter what. Although that's not even new anymore that's like a decade old at this point isn't it.

Then I think I saw one where a girl doesn't get turned into the villainess but she's hard crushing on the villainess.

Then I just saw one where a dad gets turned into the villainess in his daughter's game, which, full points on the premise, that's a good one.

which is always funny because the genre they're usually playing with very rarely actually has villainesses but there's been a lot that's discussed that aspect recently too

Yeah I kinda assumed the main narrative tension of those games is "which cute boy is the right one" rather than you vs. an antagonist.

Villainess centric isekai is fun. Sometimes it's isekaing into an otome world and pursuing the villainess as a romance

there are often antagonists but the antagonist is not typically another female character in the same capacity as villainess stuff. that kind of thing is really more of a comic or tv drama trope than a games one outside of like

literally just tokimeki memorial where they're still not really villainess-types and are more just. girls who also like a character you can pursue.
