[computer stuff] so I just reinstalled Windows 10 on my lappy like three times in a row for a kinda dumb reason, lmfao. so uh. I should finally be able to dig out an art I did for an Xmas present for someone soonish....
the thumbnails were being stupid, displaying with wasaaay too much whitespace between them. it was very weird, and I wasn't sure how exactly to troubleshoot it... but! this time around, I have two logins on my lappy, one that still has the thumbnails issue for some reason, and one that doesn't....
....so I'll be hunting up the system setting stuff (going to start with registry entries) for each of those, to run a diff check, to see if I can figure out wtf is causing it. because I've seen a handful of people complaining about exactly this issue online before, but no fixes posted in response.
so far, it looks like it's something to do with the dpi scaling... the Surfaces kinda need to be at 200% to work, because otherwise everything is just waaaaayyyyy too small for easy operation. Surfaces' dpi is nuts, in the best ways, lol....
this is what 100% (read: no scaling, just native resolution) looks like on it.
