man someday I should learn to swim

it's one of those idk Basic Life Skills that I was never really taught. like dad tried but we never got in water often enough for any of it to stick

I can doggy paddle and everything else I make up along the way

I was watching a set of learn to swim videos aimed at adults and several times I was struck with the very real horror of 'why would anyone do this for fun'

treading water was also one of the later lessons and I was like is that not the first thing you should learn
