[vidya] so is there a good way to get into resident evil for somebody who is god awful with tank controls
Phasma
There's always the movIHAHAHAA-

izzy.vrm
honestly, the remake series is really good without tank controls
izzy.vrm
as well as 7, 8, and original 4
shinjo.
resident evil 1 hd remake has mulitple control options, including analog controls
shinjo.
you only have to use tank controls if you want to
Drizz
ok ok
Drizz
I just tried to get into the originals and it is. hard
shinjo.
yeah they're tough. but the version of re1 on steam should be pretty accessible!

I'd take Izzy's advice here, though I will offer that tank controls get easier with practice; the early (pre-4) games will always feel clunkier than normal with their tank controls because they have geometry. issues.

jill valentine and leon skennedy enjoy getting caught against walls
pepperoni oil
(chris a little less so since he's built like a fridge so his character hitbox feels a little more obvious)
Drizz
makes sense

I don't want to write them off entirely but I'm just a gamer who never had to deal with that, at all.
Drizz
so getting into it now is a bit of a hurdle
pepperoni oil
yeah nah I got you

I do forget if OG 4 has non-tank options but like said, REmake (the GC one) has multiple options for controls
izzy.vrm
would you consider the over-the-shoulder pov to be tank controls? as compared to OG 1-3
Nostalgic
If I remember right I played Code Veronica as my first RE and there's a little hallway in the beginning where you can easily practice tank controls
Nostalgic
which is what I did until I felt comfortable with them
Drizz
izzy.vrm : no that'd be more easily handable
Drizz
I did buy 4 for the switch on a whim, so I'll give that a shot
suspiria theme
if you get frustrated with a given part of a game you can also watch an lp, i did that for CV and 0
suspiria theme
since tank controls do not gel with me at all
