I wish every instance of news about RT and RWBY's whole situation wasn't met with some variant of "Teehee good, RWBY bad"
ᴠɪᴄᴛᴏʀʏ ɢᴏᴅᴅᴇss
same.
Drizz
hundreds of people lost their jobs and a friend's life work might potentially be left unfinshed. We don't need to hear about why you think the show hasn't been good since volume 3
Drizz
or that the porn is better
Ken
Especially considering like. No amount of success or influence or “if they’d done this” or that with regards to RWBY itself would’ve saved RT. It’s a rotting problem at the root of WBD itself.
AMQ Shamed
Same.

real talk: the fuckos giggling about this are absolutely in the same pool pissing and shitting themselves over batgirl's cancellation, or the way coyote v acme got shitcanned

it's still only "good" when it's something you hate, huh, dipshits

wbd is entirely the problem here
Drizz
yeah...
Drizz
only matters when it's something you wanted, huh....
CERTAINTY
it's such a weird thing to have this like
CERTAINTY
vitriolic contempt for too
✶ 天才的なIDOL様!
"art and artists are worthy of respect unless I think the thing they make is cringe"
Drizz
people have hated rwby since the Yellow trailer confirmed the characters would talk
Drizz
instead of being like Monty's Dead Fantasy where it's just short vignettes of hot women fighting
Drizz
and they've had a weird tick on their shoulders about it ever since lmao
AMQ Shamed
I still think of that stupid Tumblr post that went "if you ship anything in RWBY just admit that you like smashing the pretty Barbies together, there's no way you care about story or character dynamics and relationships because it's all just shallow flash, and the sooner you admit it the better."
AMQ Shamed
The hatedom really does believe this crap, and there are so many of them.
Love Snake Kaja
I bounced off RWBY but people's behavior here are inexcusable.
Love Snake Kaja
Like, I don't even like RWBY but I can see what people like in it
Love Snake Kaja
And some people can just be so obnoxious
CERTAINTY
people talk about how there's no character dynamics or story and then say rwby went downhill after volume 2.
pepperoni oil
"Give us character development" "ok" "no not like that"
Ken
relatedly it got pulled down from Crunchyroll so the only thing that's streaming are Ice Queendom on CR, and I think the Justice League crossover movies on Max.
Mega
even if you don't like the show, it's just cruel to celebrate something like this, and it says a lot about the kind of people they are
Mega
I definitely understand your frustrations. Dx
Rama
I went ahead and watched 8 volumes of RWBY almost in a row mostly to see what everyone was complaining about and like, I have my own critiques, but the stuff that gets piled on by the internet at large is just nonsense
Rama
There's a very large section of people out there who hate RWBY to hate it rather than based on anything about the show or the people who make it
Rama
And I still don't get it
Drizz
Ken : yeah there's no legal way to watch the series now, which is, in part, why this discussion has popped up
Drizz
people going "teehee nothing of value is lost"
pepperoni oil
"Hating a (admittedly flawed) franchise solely to hate it" sounds familiar, I say looking at homestuck

and undertale

and mlpfim
Rama
See I feel like all of those at least had the reasoning of "the fans and discourse are omnipresent so I will do things to spite the fans because I have no life outside the internet"
Rama
RWBY never hit that critical mass
Rama
Although frankly I could do some essays on the parallels it has to Homestuck in terms of storytelling style, for better or worse
CERTAINTY
yeah all of those are more about the fanbase than the show itself.
CERTAINTY
my little pony also has a healthy dose of misogyny mixed in there too
CERTAINTY
and homestuck was much more intentionally designed to generate discourse
Rama
Tbh with RWBY it's like 85% misogyny
CERTAINTY
that's a solid amount of it
CERTAINTY
and i think a lot of the rest is just. mob mentality almost.
pepperoni oil
See I was wondering as I was typing why they were so different and that answers it
pepperoni oil
Hatedom being aggressor instead of reactor
AMQ Shamed
Also the knee-jerk hatred that "wannabe anime" projects got in the 2000s carried over. It's hard to remember when A:TLA is considered a foundational classic and Totally Spies a punchline because of stealth niche fetishes and not because of the art, not to mention how today we have far more international co-productions, but back then --
AMQ Shamed
-- projects like RWBY got mountains of hate simply for existing.
AMQ Shamed
And since it's lasted so long, that just continued and snowballed.
pepperoni oil
Mentioning that, I wonder how much of it is also "web animation isn't real animation" elitism
AMQ Shamed
probably, honestly
