I hate bringing up my age especially at the um, vtuber guise cause it's a super young community and 25 to them is like old af and I'm like oh heeeeeelllllll nooooooo

a lot of communities feel like that these days

the current fandom I'm doesn't skew super young and it feels generally okay with a range of ages... but it does feel like most of them are like early-to-mid-20s and then there are Discords that are like "you must state your age" and I'm like ughhhh do I have to though

just let me say 30+.......... or something...............

which is exactly what I am doing lmao

like I don't want to feel like I'm 'lying' about it or 'trying to hide it', just that there are definitely some areas where people are like "god how could anybody over the age of 25 be on the internet in fandoms, shouldn't they be doing their taxes and raising kids" or whatever

yeah it just seems like people would pull away once they know your real age, it can get very lonely at times

I remember being a teenager online and it feeling so cool that there were older people online and in fandoms and age didn't really matter or come up that often because we were all just there to talk about Sailor Moon or whatever, and I look back on those adults who were kind enough to tolerate my teenage bullshit with gratitude, haha

but now I'm the older person in fandoms, minors are absolutely block on sight like yeah no absolutely not going anywhere near that, and even in their early 20s it's still like god... they're nearly half my age though...

I hate that in Japan anything before 2010-15 is now treated as インターネット老人会 content lol
