What a week. An old friend passed away early Thursday morning. We met years ago, and cycled together, my husband more than me. Bill was 83, and until about 6 weeks ago, rode every day. He averaged over 1,000 miles a year. He will really be missed.

I’ve challenged myself to a 100 Day Challenge using papers I’ve gel printed. Here’s a few.

No trick or treaters - thank you rain - but the background looked nice.

We’ve been at the cabin, the first time since the end of May. It’s been a good weekend, even with the rain.

We’ve made it back to the cabin; it’s the first time since the end of May. It’s warming up inside, but it was 51° when we arrived. And, no internet, some PUD issue. I’ve got books and embroidery, so I’m good.

Some weekend pictures. The last one is a bridge project my son has been supervising on the Adventure Route.

We have a full house now. J & S, plus Helen the Cat, are here. They are moved out of the Skagit; S starts her new job here tomorrow, and J has been working here since May. They are staying with us until the end of October - they have been using their house as an Airbnb for 4 years, and the last guests check out on Halloween.

It’s feeling like fall around here. I’m back in sweatshirt attire. And Monday was fun - I was invited to watch a student from the children’s lit class defend his master’s portfolio. His future students will be in good hands!

Woke up to the smoke alarm - time to change the batteries!

I’m almost done with my class - this has been a very long and exhausting 6 weeks. I need to get the grades in by the 5th. I do have some ideas I got from this class to implement in my research class, though.

The last week of my class - finally! The feedback is interesting. I will be glad to be back on familiar ground with my class!

We’re on a water restriction today while the city gets the water tested. A fuel tanker drove off the road on Friday and overturned in a creek that feeds into the Elwha River, the water source for Port Angeles. The reservoirs are critically low. The driver had a medical emergency, but he’s ok.

We are at the cabin, but not for long. We came over Wednesday, the pest control guy is on his way, and when he’s finished, we’re going back home. We have a carpenter any problem, which is not good on a timber-framed home!

Wednesday was a long day. Bend to Portland, Portland to Lake Wenatchee - 450 miles in 10 1/2 hours. It’s not what we expected to do, but here we are! Mt Hood, Mt Adams, wind turbines

We’re in Bend, Oregon, so we took a short hike in Shevlin Park before the James Taylor concert. He was great, but it was cold!
