: what nishi said. i'm reading it helps convey the actions/emotions a lot better than just reading stuff

Ash!!1
its like the difference of just reading straight fan subs to anime rather than listening to it with a really good dub

Adds tone, is an option for people who understand ASL with dyslexia or who don't speak English (yes, one can speak one but not the other), and I'd be willing to bet it's a good way to teach ASL

Turtle Soup
man, the lady doing the ASL looked like she was having fun with it.

Let both my sisters know about this! ASL REPRESENT!

I really hope that for concert ASL interpreters that they start like, projecting a big screen with the interpreter on them because as rad as it is, it also does seem kind of limiting to have one person that is relatively small in front of a bigass stage, so things might be easy to miss, but if it's on a decent quality screen overhead they get better coverage

Salty Lemons 🍋
It would open the option up for MORE HOH people to attend shows.

MINun
I saw a show at a theatre once with a BSL interpreter and it worked great, but that was a small-ish venue so I can definitely see it not being so good without a screen at a big concert

MINun
I hope this does become more of a thing on streaming services. Over here interpreters are limited to like....... specific hours on live TV when not a lot of people would even be watching. And only on very few shows.

DryadGurrl
well dang, I need to watch it again anyway, so why not this way?
