Clearing Away the Brush

My caption reads: For decades, the property across the street has been hidden behind a thick row of scraggly bushes and 'trash trees' (what we Cowtowners call gnarly unwanted volunteer trees). Today we heard a loud thrashing noise and looked out to see it all coming down!

That 'claw' was grinding through everything. It's a whole new world appearing back there!

My lawn people refer to "volunteer trees" too.

Tanarian : Now and then we keep volunteers and they become part of our realm. We have an oak tree growing in the corner of the raspberry patch. Landlord said "I'll come get that and dig it up to use elsewhere" but never has! And now it's 10 feet tall.

My yard is so weird - like, I've got this passably huge maple that somehow grew up right next to the laundry line pole... on the wrong side. I had to fasten Piston's cable trolley line to the tree instead.

Tanarian : Mister Passably Huge Maple does sound like a long-ago volunteer. Perhaps you should be saluting it and thanking it for its service?
