are there careers that aren't like 'school counselor' where you can like. become a mediator of a type. i know triska once talked about union reps being that kind of job
LOVE☆STRUCK
is this a "what if i give up on ever finishing my art degree and go into psyche" thing that i'm probably not going to end up pursuing? yes
LOVE☆STRUCK
but sometimes i think that i have the temperament to remain calm in sutiations where if had college level training i could be more mindful and helpful and maybe solve things for people in work places and be a valuable hr asset
LOVE☆STRUCK
(or i could finish my BFA by finishing gen ed courses but the reality is i'm scared of school so i will probably do neither oops)
Tentessee
yeah there are professional mediators. not sure what the requirements are where you live, since it varies state by state.

inchresting
LOVE☆STRUCK
i dont know why i didn't just think to google "professional mediator"

THERE'S A WHOLE ACADEMY FOR IT
LOVE☆STRUCK
hmm so it looks like the first step to becoming a mediator would be to pursue something like paralegal status :Ia
LOVE☆STRUCK
so I would have to look into going back to school for that first. But that's not a deal breaker because I think that could be good for me if i can get over my fear of school
Tentessee
not all mediators have a law background but a LOT do
LOVE☆STRUCK
being that I have a fear of school i should maybe start by seeing if i can get fin-aid grants for online classes or something
LOVE☆STRUCK
right, or if not a law background maybe a civil service background
Tentessee
looks like georgia paralegals can expect to spend 2-4 years for certification
ARCHlVlSTE
a law background sounds very helpful in this situation, tbh
Tentessee
and there are definitely online classes for it
LOVE☆STRUCK
the only things i needed to finish my BFA were i think... one or two semesters of gen ed courses
Tentessee
emory has an online paralegal cert program, but a bachelor's is required
LOVE☆STRUCK
so i could start with some gen ed credits to get into the swing of school, and then either apply them to the BFA if that's still possible after 10 years
LOVE☆STRUCK
or apply them to a new degree
LOVE☆STRUCK
i might have to actually get in contact with a school that offers BFAs and see what options i have for the courses i already completed
LOVE☆STRUCK
i honestly wish i hadn't gone with the SCAD recommendation of courses and completed my gen eds first but hiGH SIDE IS WHAT I TYPED

Comic
marriage counselors, union reps aren't really mediators they're advocators
LOVE☆STRUCK
inchresting
LOVE☆STRUCK
advocators aren't a BAD alternative :Ia
LOVE☆STRUCK
i guess there's time for me to decide what i really want to do when the first step is The Non-Denominational Classes
