Family visas (which includes the spouse visa I’m on): The minimum threshold for a family visa will also be raised to £38,700 to "ensure people only bring dependants whom they can support financially". Currently, it stands at the 2012 rate of £18,600…
To apply for indefinitely leave to remain via spouse visa route Tom will still need to earn that much to “sponsor” me… and this will be in effect in the coming spring… if I switch to the British National (Overseas) visa route it will reset and take 6 more years for me to get citizenship…
£38,700 is just insane… who needs that much to support themselves? Their argument is to make sure the immigrants won’t need to relied on benefits, but the things is people on visas literally can’t get any benefits, they can’t even apply for child benefits…
The UK Government just wanna take benefits from the immigrants (not only HK immigrants) after the increasing participation of the labour force, I believe that they will announce harsher policies to the immigrants in order to take more advantages It's really sad 😞
It’s more like they want to reduce the number of immigration. Since they introduce the BNO visa for Hong Kong and there’s increased number of refugees due to wars in Ukrainia and the Middle East at the same time, the number of immigrants massively surged and the locals are unhappy about it, so they need to control the number elsewhere to get vote.
It's really sad 😞
