the Balduran

The Balduran that founded Baldur’s gate and then sailed off to sea 1000 years before BG3 and disappeared.

And we know he actually sailed out to sea because we find the ship wreck on the werewolf island back in BG1 so it’s not just a the legends are wrong thing

But I guess instead of dying in that shipwreck he washed up back on the sword coast and instead of going back to the city he founded he traveled a day inland to Moonrise Towers

Which apparently was already a secret front for an Illithid colony

1000 years ago

So there’s apparently been a mind flayer colony thriving there for 1000 years?

So when Ketheric was still a Paladin of Selune and the lord of moonrise towers 100 years ago was he a mind flayer thrall?

That matches with the ancient Harper reports about a heretical Selunite sect but like

Why would he care about his wife and daughter dying and turn to shar and then do all the shit he did if he was a mindflayer thrall back then?
