plenty of them have probably made stuff that is similar, but most of them know well to hide it or worse: they are so high off their self righteousness to care.
i wrapped all the way back around on boyfriends bc at first i was like "it's cute. kinda boring though." and now i'm like "i guess this is my favorite comic now on principle"
KILLING STALKING got less hate than this. like... the webcomic that says what it's about in the title with the nasty yaoi they hate got less ire than this cute slice of life about poly dudes.
new rule, anyone that tries to claim that someone exploited a minor while being an adult has to show evidence of the birth years for each person involved
Oh no... and yeah, why does the violent toxic BL get a pass but somehow the wholesome BL whose only "fault" is stereotyping get dunked on? Heck, Refrainbow's certainly much better than the author of Boyfriends and her trash take on yaoi.
unless there is another well known western comic writer of a story that uses multiple BL tropes and is marketed as BL in east Asia who considers BL to all be icky lesser porn
Advice to non mlm writing BL, do not think you're better than those 'icky' yaoi fangirls. Because racist/other horrid shit might come out ya mouth next.
honey it's okay to just say you're not interested in drawing explicit sex (which is totally valid!) without shitting on an entire genre and people who like that genre, and generalizing that genre as something bad
the one good thing I will say about the author of heartstopper is that they rightfully called out "fans" of the series who started harassing one of the actors in the netflix series and saying he was queerbating fans and forced him to publicly out himself when they found pictures of him holding hands with a girl
made even worse by the fact that one of the story beats from the comic that I have seen screenshots of is the idea of coming out on your own terms at your own pace
there's maybe an argument to be made if it's an influencer shill using the idea of maybe being queer to try and sell their brand, but I have literally never seen that be the case for any instance of a person being accused of "queerbaiting" because of their real life relationships
