[RL] My understanding of how redundancy works is that, as with a lot of things, it's based on our last 12 weeks of work at the shop.
Shard
I've had a couple of long weeks recently, but boss has been out of town. And they would have just squeaked in. But over 12 weeks, it wouldn't have averaged out to that much more.
Shard
For the record, I'm on a 16 hour a week contract. Which means that's all they really have to give me.
Shard
Schedules for December just went up.
Shard
Y'all. I'm going to be so fucking exhausted. Like, more than normal at Christmas.
Shard
My two easy weeks are 28 hours.
Shard
The others are hovering around 33-34 hours.
Shard
Which is a lot for me.
Shard
The good news is that, while I'm working three Saturdays (currently), none of them are full days so I get a bit of a break.
Shard
Ah. Fuck. Explanation has been found.

Oof
Shard
So. Good news is that the company is already advertising for a shop assistant for the other shop. Since they're losing both store leader and a shop assistant, I would have been surprised if they went a month and a half with only 3 people.
Shard
Which means it will be harder to make one of us move over there.
Shard
Okay. realized at supper that I hadn't explained what the explanation was.
Shard
Anyway. I'd texted main coworker to say that the 'keep costs down for the company' was obviously bullshit.
Shard
Eventual reply is, "Has Store Leader talked to you?"
Shard
I'm like, "No." Then she's like, "Has he texted you?"
Shard
Me immediately going to the worst case scenario and was like, "No. Have they finally told him what's going on? Do I have to go to the shop?"
Shard
Which is about the time that I get the text message from him. Saying that he'd turned in his resignation because he'd been offered a better job elsewhere. Not great for us, no, but happy for him.
Shard
And the other store is already losing another member of staff to retirement.
Shard
So I was immediately like, "Shit. They're going to try to fuck the two of us over on redundancy" because if they offer us a job and we say no without a good reason, they can deny us the redundancy.
Shard
(Husband is not sure that's actually legal, but I'm going to ask for a copy of my contract to see what it says there.)
Shard
But. Coworker texted me while we were out to supper. The text was a screenshot of a job posting on Indeed for a shop assistant job at the other store.
Shard
Which makes it FAR more unlikely that they'll try to force one of us over there, because that shop does need a store leader and that will need to be posted as well, more than likely.
