When and how did you get into Rp

𝑑𝑖𝑎𝑚𝑜𝑛𝑑 𝑑𝑢𝑠𝑡 : Oh my god. Well guess it's story time then . Embarrassing story time.

We got the internet at my house in 1999, when I was 15.

So obviously the internet being super cool and all led to fantastic things like having email in outlook and outlook used to have these news groups

And while I began reading and subscribing to ER newsgroups and learning about the wonder that is fanfiction and ultimately writing some - that's not the fandom I found RP in. It was South Park.

Through these newsgroups I found people who were roughly my age at the time and who had cultivated a community which led to both a message board - and then ultimately AIM

Which is where I chatted with these people and with a few of them it led to RP

From there I expanded both my fandoms, and got invited to other things through the connections I was making but yep, and everything we were writing was super cringe and terrible

As we are coming up on my 40th birthday, that means I've been doing this 25 years

My first game though was an AIM one when I was 17, and it was a lot like doing dnd, in a way, you gathered at a set time and then played your character(s), I think I had two then, in a setting

And that is as chaotic as you think it is, everyone's private conversations happening at the same time you just had to pick out the message that was meant for you

Actually before I appeared in Escordvi, I'd already voice tested him on some TFLN posts in FM

A little bit anyway

So Dion ticks most of my boxes just in general. He's a tragic figure, which I admit is distressingly my type, but he's tragic in a lot of ways, and yet while he gives off this obedient, perfect princely image - he's the one that starts the revolution and it's that passion for the populace that really kind of makes him stand out

And despite suggesting Sylvestre used to be that way - I think we all know that's not true, so he's also been deceived in some ways and him being somewhat the villain to Clive and then joining his team is also one of those things I enjoy

I think his story and his arc are somewhat complex and nuanced in quite a few ways - but I think that about all the FF16 characters actually

But from the moment Joshua recruited him he was my favourite

I did however join Escordvi because of you

And because there was a whole cast going and I thought first, well why is no one loving on Dion he's great, he's the best and then I was like well guess I have to

CHINHANDS

He's in such an interesting position because he's upholding the very military that enslaved Clive and caused devastation - and yet he has no real control over that, nor is he treated all that much better. And Anabella screwed them all

I actually would not have minded if Clive and Dion had had some sort of clash over that in the game

He's in the position of already on the path to death from the curse at 28 because of how much he's been overused

I don't know, I like complex and tragic >.>

But I don't know if it was out of respect for Joshua's trust, or the realization that Dion is quite powerless in this mess that Clive refrained, but tbh if he had anger in Dion's direction, I wouldn't have been surprised
