Crossposting the latest news post because I think when we tried to exorcise the double-notif bug for news posts, we did too good a job and now they're all gone

but tl;dr we are attempting to get stuff that has been in beta for between one and ten years out of beta so we can all move on with our lives (and codebase)

we do not have a concrete timeline other than 'no sooner than a few weeks from now at the earliest' but we're getting to the 'speak now or forever hold your peace' moment
