I want to write a character who used to be female at birth but once came into age with getting their godly powers that let them shapeshift and (circumstances) forced them to go onto the run? They became a guy and began to use that as his default form but didn't hate turning into a girl if that was needed..
I would have said genderfluod more but yeah... a lot of us still don't know what to call ourselves at all. I consider myself inbinary, but that is just such a broad term... I just don't have one better for me. I feel neither male nor female and kinda hate being presumed to be either.
But I have written and RPed characters who go back and forth in various
One thing you should consider is if they have specific feelings about their gender presentation, or if they're wholly detached from the concept and just settled into a default as a matter of convenience.
well. the way i'm writing it is like.. the intention that he was afab but... the more he used his shapeshifting to be a male? he found he was most comfortable that way
So if he's willing to present female but has no desire to, while actively feeling comfortable and confident presenting male, then I know at least one trans person who would call that transmasc.
agreeing with the above! genderfluid is more like having different periods of time where different genders are preferred, if that makes sense. like, this character being comfortable presenting as female when he has to but never going through a period of time where he's like no actually i'd rather wear a female body today (or even a genderless body) --
but overall i'd play that with 1) less formal terms, 2) "a man's beating heart lies within the woman's body i once held" - sort of archaic/outdated ideas for it
