"Dana's not very understanding toward Terry" Terry, like every other super hero with a secret ID, cannot expect to not be treated as a flake at best if they do not give the significant people in their life reason to believe that they're not a flake.
and we all know that it's perfectly acceptable for someone to spend all their time at work and sleep through the few family events they manage to attend
and if someone has to spend all their time and work and sleep through family events because they live in a dystopian capitalist hellscape, well, it's not like Dana and Terry are anything but teenagers dating.
like, I don't think she's ever mad at Terry for turning down a date because he has work scheduled. what she's mad about is when he cancels dates because his boss suddenly calls him
(there's also the part where she does try to understand it, and ends up rationalizing Terry's devotion to the job as him wanting to spend time with his new father figure)
she does not want little kids growing up with their parents keeping big secrets, or being burdened with having to keep the secret knowing that if they mess up people could die
kinda ironic how the people saying Dana and her father should be more understanding towards Terry also call him an asshole for angrily confronting Terry after Dana's disappearance during their date. guess Terry doesn't need to be understanding
godddd one of the people arguing that Mr. Tan was unfair to Terry also justified Terry tracing Melanie's phone call and breaking into her family's hotel room with "he suspected she was in trouble"
Terry, like every other super hero with a secret ID, cannot expect to not be treated as a flake at best if they do not give the significant people in their life reason to believe that they're not a flake.
